In one of the quickest turnarounds the UFC has seen in recent years, UFC 256 will bring Deiveson Figueiredo back into the Octagon mere days after his victory in UFC 255.
After a stunning and dominant victory over Alex Perez, Figueiredo proved once again he’s the man to lead the flyweight category, particularly with a willingness to take on each challenger, no matter how close together the fights are.
He’ll come up against Brandon Moreno, who also competed at UFC 255, defeating Brandon Royval in the prelim.
The two fighters match each other for their most recent fight day and preparation time heading into UFC 256, it’s an evenly matched, but experts remain convinced that no one can touch the champ at this stage.
Meanwhile Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira will look to add the eighth straight win to his resume when he takes on Tony Ferguson. The Brazilian, who finished his last seven opponents, included a submission win over Kevin Lee in his most recent bout last March. Oliveira was excited to have finally taken on a top five opponent, but was ready to go further.
“I’m happy for this opportunity to fight Ferguson; I’m taking this fight on less than 20 days notice, but it’s a chance to display my talent and show I’m ready to fight any Top 5 ranked guy, like I’ve been saying for a while now”, he said, “The time has come. I will shock the world on December 13th”.
Tony Ferguson is looking to bounce back from his first loss in eight years. The fight came to be after Ferguson asked the UFC to book him before the end of the year, Oliveira accepted the opportunity with an eye on extending his current seven fight winning streak.
