It’s on! Two Top 5 bantamweight contenders will headline this epic showdown!
No.1 ranked Marlon Moraes will face off with No.4 division contender, Cory Sandhagen.
Moraes aka “Magic” (23-6-1) will step into this October bout off of his latest victory to Jose Aldo in UFC 245 last December. His win to Aldo was a rebound from his prior loss to Henry Cejudo for the vacant UFC Bantamweight Title in UFC 238, where he lost by third round stoppage and also saw an end to his four-fight win streak.
Earlier this year, the coronavirus put him out of action. Despite this, he’s since recovered and currently holds top position in the division ranks.
Looking to move up the ranks and defeat Moraes, is Cory Sandhagen. The No.4 contender has come off a loss to Aljamain Sterling at UFC 250 in June. The loss was a crucial one, blemishing his seven-fight win streak dating back to 2017. His track record has seen notable wins to John Lineker and Raphael Assuncao. Previously he was scheduled to fight Frankie Edgar in a bantamweight bout earlier this January, however Edgar was removed from the fight, therefore cancelling the card.
Newly crowned UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan is projected to face Aljamain Sterling next, and the winner of Moraes and Sandhagen could be named the next No. 1 contender.
The fight will no doubt be a showdown to get closer to the title belt!
In the undercard, there will also be some serious heavyweight action between Ben Rothwell returns and Marcin Tybura.
