This October title fight contenders Mackenzie Dern and Marina Rodriguez will headline in this exciting women’s strawweight bout. Only one rank separates the two and will no doubt be a must-see match. Both fighters are entering off the back of straight consecutive wins and each look to use this fight as an opportunity to get a taste of the title fight.
Dern has had an exciting ride so far with four straight wins to her name and the #4 spot worth bragging about. Her most recent fight was a boost to her UFC record, where she defeated reigning champion Amanda Nunes via first round submission. Nunes wasn’t the only one who got taken down by submission — Randa Markos and Hannah Cifers also felt Dern’s force and defeated them both. Meanwhile Virna Jandiroba took a loss to Dern by unanimous decision.
Can Dern make it five in a row?
Not far behind is Rodriguez. Currently ranked #6 the title contender is coming off a two-fight winning streak. Her most recent victory was against Michelle Waterson, where Rodriguez also headlined last May. Prior, she took out the touted #11 fighter, Amanda Ribas by second round TKO during UFC 257. She’s maintained a strong fighting record only losing once during her six UFC appearances. The loss was to strawweight champion Carla Esparza in a split decision.
Will Rodriguez take out Dern too?
Joining the co-headline fight will be #10 ranked Tom Elliott and #12 ranked Matheus Nicolau in an unmissable flyweight bout. With only one rank between them, this will be a fight worth watching. To follow will be Chris Guiterrez and Felipe Colares in a Bantamweight bout. Who will take the win?
