Do you know the name Tim Tszyu yet? If not, you should. Australia’s boxing sensation is taking the globe by storm, and won’t stop until he’s at the very top.
Sitting undefeated, Tim Tszyu will continue his quest for world domination, with his famous boxing father in his corner, it seems no one will stop him. Sitting at 19 wins from 19 bouts,Tszyu is surely the next tip for a world title challenge in 2022, should he win Wednesday’s huge fight.
He’ll have his work cut out for him, coming up against the Japanese warrior, Takeshi Inoue, who at 17 wins, one loss and one draw, is a strong opponent for Tszyu. Currently ranked #7 in the world by the WBO, his lone defeat came in a decision in a world title fight by then champion, Jamie Munguia in 2019.
On his up and coming fight with the Australia, Takeshi had this to say.
“My condition has gotten better and also my punch is now very, very powerful so I can beat Tim Tszyu,” Inoue said via a translator.
“I respect his results because Tim Tszyu has not lost. I respect also his boxing technique and I basically respect everything about him. But towards the end of the fight, I’m thinking of knockout. That’s how I’m practising.
“Tim Tszyu has only ever fought in Australia, he hasn’t got experience overseas. I have more experience, including against Munguia, when although I lost, the fight was very close.
“I’m confident, I have much more experience so I think I can beat Tim Tszyu.”
On Takeshi’s seemingly improved physique he had on show recently, Tszyu was clearly impressed.
“He looks like he’s in good shape, so hopefully we get the best version of him,” Tszyu told Fox Sports News.
“.... My ring IQ will definitely show in this fight. I have to be composed, this is a fight I can’t rush. Every punch counts, every little thing counts. It’s a strategic fight for me, it’s not just a brawl.”
Supporting the main card, Wade Ryan and Ben Mahoney will face off for the vacant IBO Inter-Continental title, while Joel Camilleri and Wes Capper will battle it out.
