UFC Sunday is at your local pub as a welterweight clash pitting Darren Till against Jorge Masvidal will serve as the headliner for UFC Fight Night 147 in London March 17, while another 170-pound clash between Leon Edwards and Gunnar Nelson is set for the co-main event.
Till was contemplating a move to middleweight but will put that on hold to face Masvidal. “The Gorilla” was unbeaten in his first six Octagon appearances before suffering a second-round submission loss against Tyron Woodley in a 170-pound title bout at UFC 228 this past September.
Masvidal, meanwhile, was briefly linked to a bout with Nick Diaz at UFC 235, but that bout failed to come to fruition. “Gamebred” will carry a two-fight losing streak into the matchup with Till but hasn’t competed since losing at decision to Stephen Thompson at UFC 217 in November 2017.
Edwards has established himself as a welterweight contender during a six-fight winning streak within the Las Vegas-based promotion. Most recently, the 27-year-old Englishman took a convincing five-round verdict over Donald Cerrone in the UFC Fight Night 132 headliner on June 23.
Nelson returned following more than a year hiatus at UFC 231, where he submitted Alex Oliveira with a rear-naked choke in the second stanza. The Iceland native has been victorious in three of his last four Octagon appearances.
