It’s back on! Former title challenger and current #3 contender, Dominick Reyes will clash with the #5 contender Czech star, Jiří Procházka in this light heavyweight match. Previously the fight was scheduled for February, but Reyes pulled out due to injury. For both, this fight will be critical, as it opens up an opportunity for a shot at the division title. Who will make the most of it?
“The Devastator” (Reyes) has tasted the title shot before, almost winning against the champion, Jon Jones during UFC 247, and, again, when given another opportunity when Jones vacated the belt. During this fight he lost to Jan Blachowicz via TKO in the second round.
His fight with Jones was a controversial one, and many believed that Reyes should have won instead. Despite these losses his UFC career has been strong. His previous outings saw him take six straight victories across main events and Fight Nights. The #3 contender debuted in 2017 and took his first win against Joachim Christensen at a Fight Night match. Since then he’s proven unstoppable and this time looks to take it all the way to the top.
Can he do it?
Meanwhile Procházka is also on the climb to the top. Similar to Reyes, he started his UFC career with a bang where he defeated former title challenger Volkan Oezdemir in the second round by KO. Astoundingly it was the 24th win by knockout in Prochazka's professional fighting career. Prior to signing on with the UFC he was a former champion of the Japanese Rizin Fighting Federation.
Will Procházka take this fight in the bag too?
Joining the card will be Andreas Michailidis and KB Bullar in the co-headline middleweight matchup. This will be a critical fight for both, each looking to bag a win after recent losses. Michailidis recently lost to Modestas Bukauskas, while Bhullar was defeated by Tom Breese via TKO.
In the Women’s Strawweight bout Randa Markos and Luana Pinheiro will go head-to-head, while TJ Laramie and Damon Jackson will match up in the Featherweight bout.
