French man, Gane is fresh off a decision win to Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Meanwhile Russian fighter, Volkov is also entering this match strong, with recent victories to Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris. Gane has become one of the most exciting rising fighters in the division. A former sparring partner of current champion, Francis Ngannou, he has quickly become a title contender. His recent win over No.6 contender Rozenstruik, by unanimous decision, has pushed him closer towards the belt. Currently he also holds a five fight winning streak and boasts wins over Junior Dos Santos, Tanner Boser and Don’Tale Mayes.
Can he extend his unbroken streak?
Also looking to win and climb the ranks is Alexander Volkov. Being another major force in the division, he currently holds seven wins of nine fights in the Octagon. His recent wins to former world title challenger, Alistair Overeem and No.8 contender, Walt Harris have boosted his standing, both of which he defeated via knockout.
His only losses over the last four years have been to Derrick Lewis by knockout, and Curtis Blaydes by unanimous decision. Despite these setbacks he’s fighting career has seen him pick up notable success over the years, including former champion Fabricio Werdum and former NFL player Greg Hardy.
