After establishing himself as one of the best middleweights of this era, Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza will now test the waters at 72kg. Facing up against, top five light heavyweight contenders, Jan Blachowicz in Brazil on Sunday 17 November.
Fighting at home in Brazil for the first time in over a year, Souza has finished his last six victories and he has similar plans for Poland’s Blachowicz, who is fresh from a stunning knockout victory over Luke Rockhold.
Jacare was eyeing a rematch against Kelvin Gastelum, but after Till got the nod to go up against the former Ultimate Fighter winner, Souza decided it was time to pack on the pounds and go hunting for a fight in a brand new division for him.
The debut fight isn’t going to be a walk in the park, as Jan has proven to be a formidable foe for anyone standing in his way.
Both competitors are looking to book their ticket to the big dance sooner, rather than later, though punters have their money on Blachowicz to be a closer shot at ‘Bones’ with a victory than Souza would.
