Ready for one of the most stacked cards we’ve seen in a while?

UFC 259 is here to deliver not one, not two, but three title fights. Taking place at the UFC Apex centre in Las Vegas, the feature fight of March has been announced.

Taking front position on said card, light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz makes his very first title defense against middleweight title holder, Israel Adesanya who’s on a quest to become the UFC’s latest champ-champ.

Ranking no. 3 in overall pound-for-pound rankings, Adesanya has held the middleweight titles since April 2019, with one unification bout victory and two successful title defences. Adesanya is after more, looking to jump to a new category, however he’s claimed he’s not going to go through a major physical transformation.

Although the 20-pound jump from middleweight to light heavyweight is the widest of any two UFC divisions, it appears Adesanya is sticking true to the philosophy that putting on a bunch of new weight in a short time isn’t going to sway the result one way or another.

Blachowicz took the top honour with a technical knockout over Dominick Reyes in September last year, this was a cap to a four bout win streak that cemented him as a legitimate threat in the division, now, come March, he’ll make his first title defense against a motivated opponent.

Also on the card, arguably the GOAT of the UFC, Amanda Nunes will take on Aussie, Megan Anderson. Anderson is the first Australian woman with opportunity for a shot at a title, and she’ll jump at it with both hands.

There’s no denying the power of Nunes, who heads into the bout a strong favourite, as she does every time she enters any Octagon. It’ll be a tall order from the Australian to conquer the champ, but it’s not out of the question.

The final title fight on the card will feature Petr Yan, defending his bantamweight belt against the no. 1 contender, Aljamain Sterling.

Yan captured his first UFC title when he finished Aldo in the fifth round at UFC 251, and has gone on to win 10 straight fights.

Sterling moved up the rank when he submitted Corey Sandhagen in the first round of UFC 250 in August, going on to win five straight and seven of eight as he enters his first UFC title fight.

A stacked card, full of champions defending their belts and challengers looking to claim their one shot. Find out where to watch.
