Rising Aussie boxing star Tim Tszyu will look to continue his unbeaten run against Jeff Fenech-trained brawler Jack Brubaker later this year.
Son of Australian boxing legend, Kosta Tszyum, Tim took his professional record to 14-0 with a unanimous decision victory over Dwight Ritchie in Sydney in August. Prior to this, he went the distance in an entertaining UD win over Joel Camilleri for the Australian Super Welterweight title.
Brubaker believes he has what it takes to cause an upset, and end the prodigy’s spotless record. Tszyu won’t be the only one with a fighting legend in his corner, Brubaker counts Fenech as head coach, trainer and mentor. Fenech was present in the Brubaker camp at the official fight announcement.
“In the last few weeks, I’ve seen an amazing improvement. Styles make fights, some of the greatest fighters in the world have been upset. And I think I’ve got a kid here that works hard enough to give this fight a huge shake,” Fenech said.
“We know how hard this fight is going to be, I’ve got total respect for Tim. But I’ve seen a winner in Jack, I’ve seen someone who will go to the extreme degree to win. We’re working hard, hopefully, you’re not going to see the Jack Brubaker you’ve seen the last two fights getting hit, throwing punches. Hopefully, there’ll be a method to the madness.”
As for Tszyu, this will be the third time he headlines a Main Event card in the last two years.
“In his first two Main Event headline performances we have already seen that Time Tszyu is world-class,” boxing commentator Ben Damon said.
“We’ve seen Tim’s boxing ability improve in recent fights, whole his maturity and patience has accelerated dramatically, and his punching power that was evident from his early fights continues to strengthen, ensuring a compelling boxing spectacle each outing.”
This will showcase of Australian talent on display, Tszyu looking to add to his clear streak and Brubacker looking to ruin the party. Catch all the action, live and free at your local.
